Watch those stumps and lily pads

Made the short drive out to Pat Mayse Lake north of town today to try out the new Kodak and to see just how low the lake really is. Lets just say the pic of the end of the boat ramp tells the whole story. I would normally be in the water by a few feet anyway from where I took the pic and the water is a good 25 feet past the end of it. Judging from the level along the damn it appears to be about 7 ft low. Its at about the 71% full level according to the local paper and they start calling for mandatory water restrictions at 70% so without a huge rainfall within the next few days that will for sure be taking place.

The above picture is just north of one of the main swimming areas. Some of the pads were HUGE. You can also see the dam in the distance and where the water level should be. Good friend of mine, Tim, said he has fished the lake for his whole life and has never seen it as low. I think there are two boat ramps still usuable and one of those is not going to be usable for long due to stumps in front of it that arenormally low enough to not affect the boats. Tim said he would not put his high dollar bass boat in the lake until there is a sizeable rainfall.

We did get a quick shower today....I am guessing less than 1/4" of rain total. In the last 2 months we have had about 1" of rainfall. Way below our average.
